Couple Involved In Collision

August 5, 2011

ST. MARYS — A husband and wife involved in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday remain in Lima hospital.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jerry W. Mullins, 49, and Regina Mullins, 44, both of St. Marys, were on board a motorcycle and traveling west on Ohio 219, near Montezuma, when a vehicle driven by Terri L. D'Andrea, 46, attempted to make a left turn into a private drive and collided with the Mullins' motorcycle.

Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said D'Andrea allegedly exhibited signs of impairment at the scene of the collision. Grey said D'Andrea refused to submit to a test and a search warrant was obtained for a blood sample. Grey said the results on the blood sample are still pending as are charges.

Mullins was transported to Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys and then later taken by Care Flight to St. Rita's Medical Center. Regina Mullins was transported at the scene by Care Flight to St. Rita's Medical Center. The two were not wearing helmets at the time of the collision.

A nursing supervisor at St. Rita's told The Evening Leader, as of Friday afternoon, the Mullins were in critical condition.

Also at the scene, Jody L. Homan was arrested on charges of misconduct at an emergency scene and obstructing official business, misdemeanor charges. Grey said Homan reportedly told investigators she was driving the vehicle, not D'Andrea.
