Council OKs Extension

June 25, 2013

ST. MARYS — St. Marys City Councilors Monday night approved the extension of Greg Foxhoven’s interim status as safety-service director.

The emergency ordinance, passed under suspension of rules, authorized Foxhoven to service as interim safety-service director until Aug. 15. That date would mark the time when Foxhoven could be made the permanent safety-service director if the third reading of the ordinance is approved during the first council meeting in July. Councilors also approved the second reading of an ordinance removing the interim label from Foxhoven’s title Monday night. The extension was needed because the current ordinance authorizing Foxhoven to service as interim safety-service director expires on June 30.

During the first meeting in July, the ordinance approving Foxhoven as the permanent safety-service director is expected to be read for the third time. If the measure is not passed as an emergency, it would take effect 30 days after its passage.
