Connie S. Yahl, 67, of 02764 Salem Noble Road, St. Marys, died at 7:53 p.m. Sunday, June 8, 2014, at her residence, following a brief illness.
She was born on Aug. 8, 1946, in Sidney, the daughter of Clifford and Mildred (Stiles) Elsass.
She married Joseph J. Yahl on June 17, 1967, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in St. Marys, and he survives at the residence.
She is also survived by her five children, Vickie Wehner of Wapakoneta, Vern (Amy) Yahl of St. Marys, Vince (Erin) Yahl of Troy; Laurie (Nick) Lapsevich of Brunswick and Kristy (Russell) Yonyon of Columbus. She is survived by eight grandchildren, Stella and Milton Wehner, Brooke and Alex Yahl, Alyssa, Nathan and Caleb Yahl and Reed Yonyon. She is survived by her sister, Jo Ann Elsass of Saline, Mich; and by her brother, Ron (Becky) Elsass of Wapakoneta.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents and by her son-in-law, Doug Wehner.
She graduated from Buckland High School in 1964. She had worked as a bookkeeper for St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and Auglaize Landmark, and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and cooking. She had prepared many funeral dinners for the members of her church, St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glynwood. The joy of her life was watching her grandchildren grow up.
A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Glynwood, the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating.
Burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery, adjacent to St. Patrick’s Church.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, where memorial gifts may be given to the Cancer Association of Auglaize County.
A vigil service will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
