Colista Kitchen, 68

Colista Kitchen, 68, of 16244 State Route 66, St. Marys, died suddenly at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born on Jan. 21, 1944, in Olive Hill, Ky., the daughter of James and Evelyn (Carpenter) Middleton, and they preceded her in death.

On March 28, 1964, in Olive Hill, Ky., she married Charles Gary, and he survives at the residence.

She is also survived by her four children, Penny (Don Hubbard) Ashley of Wyandott, Mich., Raberta Kitchen of Wapakoneta, Garrett Stacy (Ann) Kitchen of St. Marys and Leslie (Kenneth Westerbeck) Kitchen of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Lorynn Riley,  Michael Detisch, Jarrett Dorsten, Jacob Ashley, Wesley Kitchen, Gary Dorsten, Austin Detisch and Clystia Coil; her siblings, Mary (Bert) Reynolds of Watkins, Colo., Sarah Kegley of Olive Hill, Ky., Dolly (Jerry) Saddler of Lisbon, Loretta (Michael) Newlon of Mansfield, James Middleton of Olive Hill, Ky., and Stanley Middleton of Olive Hill, Ky.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma Poling; two infant brothers.

Colista was a homemaker and had previously worked at Pyro-Pak in New Knoxville.

She was Baptist and enjoyed sewing and gardening. Her grandchildren were the highlight of her life.

Funeral rites will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys. Burial rites will be held at the Middleton Cemetery in Carter County, Ky.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, where memorial gifts may be given to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
