Cole L. Hiestand, 10

Cole L. Hiestand, 10, of rural Wapakoneta, died at 12:40 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, 2011, at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, following a courageous 15-month battle with aplasticanemia.  

He was born on Sept. 9, 2000, in Lima, the son of Jonathan and Carrie (Bowman) Hiestand, and they survive him in Wapakoneta.

He is also survived by a brother, Deakin Hiestand; his paternal grandparents, Tom and Cathy Hiestand of Elida; his maternal grandparents, Garry and Linda Bowman of Wapakoneta; his paternal great-grandmother, Margaret Close of Castalia; an uncle; an aunt; 11 cousins.

A private graveside service will be in the Buckland Cemetery, with the Rev. Tom Shobe officiating.  

The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from  6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta.
