Clay A. Perry, 91

Clay A. Perry, 91, of 1814 Kishler Drive, St. Marys, died at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.

He was born on Aug. 10, 1920, in Auglaize County, the son of Alfred and Bessie (Gilroy) Perry, and they preceded him in death.

On Feb. 27, 1937, he married Dorothy M. Hanger, and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2003.

He is survived by one daughter, Gloria (Steven) Triplett of St. Marys; seven grandchildren, Cynthia Lane Brown, Diane (Richard) McCafferty, Christine Triplett (Marc Hassan) Chambers, Michael (Melissa) Lane, Matthew (Jill) Triplett, Mark Lane and Leslie Lane; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Varrel Rex Perry of Florida.

He was preceded in death by two siblings, Lois Kaylor and Carl Perry; a daughter, Bess Lane.

Clay was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He retired from the United States Postal Service, having served many years as a star route carrier.

He was a member of the Waynesfield United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family.

Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.

Burial, with military honors, will follow at Walnut Hill Cemetery in New Hampshire.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be made to St. Rita’s Hospice or to Waynesfield United Methodist Church.
