Chester E. Hittepole Sr., 85

Chester E. Hittepole Sr., 85, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:15 p.m. Monday, Nov. 21, 2011, at  Lima Memorial Health System.  

He was born on Oct. 5, 1926, in St. Johns, the son of Glen and Mabel (Kiese) Hittepole, and they preceded him in death.  

On Feb. 17, 1947, he married Dorothy M. Werling, and she survives him.

He is also survived by two children, Chester E. Hittepole Jr. and Sharon Shoup, both of  Wapakoneta; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister; numerous half brothers and sisters; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law; a grandson; a sister.  

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wapakoneta, with the Rev. Patrick Sloneker officiating.

Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Wapakoneta.  

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Long & Folk Chapel of Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 13 S. Blackhoof St., Wapakoneta.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Joseph Catholic Church Renovation Fund.
