Charles Gary Kitchen, 68

Charles Gary Kitchen, 68, of 16244 Ohio 66 North in rural St. Marys, died on Friday, May 4, 2012, at his residence.

He was born on April 24, 1944, in Lawrence County, Ky., to Milton G. Kitchen and Lydia Newsome, and they preceded him in death.

On March 28, 1964, in Olive Hill, Ky., he married Calista Middleton, and she preceded him in death on Feb. 12.

He is survived by three daughters, Penny (Don Hubbard) Ashley of Wyandotte, Mich., Roberta Kitchen of Wapakoneta and Leslie (Kenneth Westerbeck) Kitchen of St. Marys; a son, Garrett Stacy (Ann) Kitchen of St. Marys; eight grandchildren, Lorynn Riley, Michael Deitsch, Jerrett Dorsten, Jacob Ashley, Wesley Kitchen, Gary Dorsten, Austin Deitsch and Clystia Coil; three brothers, Jeff (Gayle) Mabry of Melrose, Fla., Robert (Tammy) Mabry of St. Marys and Joe (Jamie) Mabry of St. Marys; a sister, Judy Sherman of St. Marys; two sisters-in-law, Trish Mabry and Lydia Mabry, both of St. Marys.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Berkley “Cub” Mabry and Otis Mabry.

He was a retired production employee from the St. Marys Foundry Co.

His favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, coon hunting and tending his vegetable garden. He was a devoted and loving family man. He was affectionately referred to as “Papa Kitchen” by numerous small children.

Rites are scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys, with the Rev. Bill Maki officiating.

Visitation  will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be directed to either Cancer Association of Auglaize County or to the American Heart Association.
