Charlene J. Kelch, 78, of Eaton, passed away on Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, at Vancrest Health Care Center in Eaton after an extended illness.

She was born on Dec. 22, 1933, in New Bremen, to Wilbur Herman and Donna (Bartlett) Schroer, and they preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband, Bob G. Kelch of Eaton (Lakengren); her children, David Kelch of Dayton, Vicki (Chris) Jackson of Eaton (Lakengren), Jayne Kelch of Dayton, Doug Kelch of Mesa, Ariz., and Susan (Brad) Creech of Eaton (Lakengren); nine grandchildren Ben, Rachel, Nicholas, A.J., Shannon, Steve, Sara, Cassie and Ricky; a great-granddaughter, Jaysha; a brother, Steve (Linda) Schroer of New Bremen; her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her infant sister, Charlotte Schroer.

She was a graduate of New Bremen High School and a graduate of Lima Memorial Hospital Nursing College. She worked as a registered nurse for 40 years at Grandview Hospital in Dayton. She was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton, where she was also a member of the Grace Lutheran Church Women.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Drive, Eaton, with the Rev. Warren Reichert officiating. Burial will follow at Mound Hill Cemetery in Eaton.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Girton Schmidt & Boucher Gard Funeral Home, 226 W. Main St., Eaton, and one hour before services on Thursday at the church.
