Celina Wal-Mart Briefly Evacuated

October 12, 2012

CELINA — Celina Police and Fire departments responded to a call of a suspicious package at the Celina Wal-Mart Super Center on Friday afternoon.

At 3:18 p.m., the Celina Police Department received a call from Wal-Mart security stating they were evacuating the store because of a suspicious package. Officers arrived at Wal-Mart to find the package was on a counter at the service desk. It was approximately 12-by-3-by-1.5 inches.  After examining the package, a decision was made to remove it from the store. It was taken to a safe location where the package was opened and the contents could be examined. It was found that the package contained only batteries.

The Celina Wal-Mart was shut down for less than one hour. The investigation into this incident is continuing.
