Celina Man Dies In Motorcycle Crash

July 4, 2011

CELINA — A Celina man died Sunday night after he crashed his motorcycle.

In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said his office is investigating the county's first traffic fatality of 2011. Dispatchers received a call of a possible motorcycle crash at 11:56 p.m. Sunday. The caller advised dispatchers they heard a motorcycle go past their house, then heard tires squealing and a crash.

Deputies were dispatched to the area. The caller located the crash scene before the initial deputy’s arrival and directed him into the crash site.   Upon investigation, deputies determined Jeremiah Walter Larsen, 28, 9751 Celina-Mendon Road, Celina, was traveling eastbound on Oregon Road, just west of Stose Road on a 2006 Suzuki Motorcycle.  For an unknown reason, he went off the left side of the roadway, traveled through a field, and then was ejected as the motorcycle crossed a creek bed.  Larson was not wearing a helmet and was deceased upon the deputy’s arrival.
