Celia G. Beougher, 87

Celia G. Beougher, 87, of Celina, died at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on Dec. 27, 1924, in Celina, to Harvey Shimp and Etha Haney, and they preceded her in death.

On Jan. 3, 1942, she married Ray Beougher, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2003.

She is survived by a son, Ron (Erma) Beougher of Celina; a daughter, Barbara (Lynn) Avery of Celina; two sisters, Wanda Ballard of Altamont, Ill., and Marilyn Craft of St. Marys; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Beougher; two brothers, Nathan “Brooks” Shimp and Charles Shimp; six sisters, Annie Shimp, Stella Wolfe, Bernice Cone, Rita Groters, Zola Simons and Phylis Simpson.

Celia graduated magna cum laude from the University of Findlay. She earned her master’s degree in special education after having three children.

She was a retired teacher, having spent time in Mendon, Neptune, St. Marys and Celina.

She enjoyed playing piano, organ and marimba. Her other hobbies included tole painting, decorating cakes and many crafts. She drew chalk pictures and held inspirational talks to groups.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Cisco Funeral Home in Celina. Burial will be held in Swamp College Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday and one hour before services on Monday at the funeral home.
