Carol A. Knoch, 78

Carol A. Knoch, 78, of Wapakoneta, died at 7:08 p.m. at the St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.   

She was born on Dec. 22, 1934, in Jackson Township, Shelby County, the daughter of Henry C. and Margaret (Rickert) Christler, who preceded her in death.  On Aug. 18, 1956, she married James M. Knoch, and he survives.  

Other survivors include two sons, James M. (Karen) Knoch of Flower Mound, Texas, Eric S. (Beth) Knoch of Loveland; two grandchildren, Holly and Whittney; two stepgrandchildren, Adam and Megan; a great-grandson, Emerson; a brother, Roger “Bud” (Rosemary) Christler of Wapakoneta; a sister, Doris Lunz of New Bremen; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth Gross, Evelyn Waterman, and Shirley Schnell.

Carol worked 24 years as matron at the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office. She had also worked at the First National Bank, Jackson Center. She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta and a 1952 graduate of Jackson Center High School.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, and traveling.

Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, Wapakoneta, the Rev. Mark Bauer, officiating.  

Burial will follow in the Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.  

The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, State Route 501, Wapakoneta, and one hr prior to the service Thursday at the church.
