Carl Richard Wappelhorst, 90, of Coldwater, died on Monday, Jan. 9, 2012, at Briarwood Village in Coldwater.
He was born on June 8, 1921, in St. Henry, to Joseph and Emma (Daniel) Wapplehorst, and they preceded him in death.
On Jan. 24, 1948, he married Anna (Burden), and she survives in Coldwater. Carl is survived by five children, Gary and Sherry Wappelhorst of Fort Recovery, James and Linda Wappelhorst of Alpena, Mich., Ernest Wappelhorst of Rome, Italy, Linda and Jim Hawkins of Celina and Rita Barr of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two grandchildren; four brothers; four sisters.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, with the Rev. Barry Stechschulte officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
Burial will follow in St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coldwater.
