Cards Call Out Classes

August 28, 2014

NEW BREMEN — New Bremen fourth graders each donated $1 to fight ALS while getting drenched for charity on Wednesday.

Each student learned about ALS and read about Lou Gehrig — who died from the disease. The Cardinals then called out fourth graders nationwide to do the same.

Ella Pape explained what she’d learned about ALS.

“It’s a disease that people are fighting for,” she said, adding why she wanted to participate. “To challenge other people.”

Brooklyn Kremer said she wanted to do the challenge to show people with ALS she cared about them.

“They can’t talk or walk,” she said.
