BOYS BASKETBALL: New Knoxville pulls away from Parkway

January 21, 2012

ROCKFORD — The New Knoxville boys basketball team broke away from a feisty Parkway squad, 57-44, to earn its first Midwest Athletic Conference win of the season on Friday night.

The Rangers (6-6, 1-2 MAC) went to the half tied at 23-23 with the Panthers, who entered the night at 1-11 with a five-game losing streak in tow.

But a 21-point night from Derek Luth kept the Panthers close before the Rangers outscored Parkway 14-10 in the third quarter and 18-11 in the fourth quarter to pick up the double-digit win.

Lucas Leffel put up 18 points to lead New Knoxville. Jake Allen added 16 points and Ryan Lageman scored 12 points with a pair of three-pointers drained.

New Knoxville won its second road game in three days after starting the season 0-4 on the road. New Knoxville hosts Fort Recovery next Friday night.
