BOWLING: Rider girls get to elite eight, bow out to Coldwater

March 3, 2012

COLUMBUS — The St. Marys girls bowling team qualified to the OHSAA state elite eight  before Coldwater pulled off three straight Baker Games to rally past the Roughriders on Saturday afternoon.

St. Marys, which won the state championship a season ago, won the first two Baker games against the Cavaliers to take a commanding 2-0 lead with scores of 165-154 and 192-171.

But Coldwater won the next three games to oust the Riders, 222-164, 242-196 and 236-135.

Coldwater went on to win the state title with a championship victory over top-seeded Hubbard. That means Coldwater swept the boys and girls state championships this season.

St. Marys bowled a 3085 as a team to qualify sixth for the championship round.

St. Marys' Erica Keysor bowled the 12th-best individual score with a 591 series.

Rider junior Alison Anselman finished 51st individually with a 499 series. Kristen Dammeyer was one spot in back of Anselman with a 498 series. Emily Walter was 54th with a 497 series. Jessica Hardeman bowled a 282 in two games. Emily Platt bowled one game of 134.
