Betty Fisher, 84, formerly of 309 Augustus St., St. Marys, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born on Jan. 16, 1928, in St. Marys, the daughter of William and Nora (Ankerman) Thielk. She married John E. Fisher on May 18, 1954, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 1985.
She is survived by her sister, Arlene (Richard) Hoverman of Spencerville; a stepdaughter, Connie Birdyshaw of Winter Garden, Fla.; a stepgrandson, Jason LaPenta of Florida; by two nieces, Diann (Paul) Dunlap of Spencerville, Joann Pitts of Lima.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
She was confirmed into the Lutheran faith in 1942 and graduated from St. Marys Memorial High School in 1946. She worked at the former Ohio Consolidated Telephone Company and later worked at Neely’s Drug Store and Rite Aid Drugstore in St. Marys.
She enjoyed putting jigsaw puzzles together and doing crossword puzzles. She was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys, where she had taught Sunday School and was active in the church choir.
Funeral rites will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki, officiant. Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call from noon until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home, where memorial gifts may be given to Zion Lutheran Church.
