Berniece I. Henning, 82

Berniece I. Henning, 82, of 14210 State Route 116, St. Marys, died at 5:26 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born on March 31, 1929, in Celina, to Charles and Nellie (McDonald) Boice, and they preceded her in death.

On Feb. 28, 1948, in Covington, Ky., she married Edwin R. Henning, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 2002.

She is survived by two sons, Edwin D. (Jo Ann) Henning of Marion and Terry (Brenda) Henning of St. Marys; two daughters, Janiece Henning of St. Marys and Nan (Kevin) Luedeke of St. Marys; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Boice of Texarkana, Ark.; two sisters, Lee Boice of Troy and Karen Boice of Minster.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Coleen Henning on April 10, 1977; a brother, Jerry Boice; three sisters, Delores Boice, Janelle Harden and Mary Ysassi.

She was a 1947 graduate of Celina Senior High School.

Berniece retired from the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. in St. Marys, where she worked in production and supervision.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion Post 323 Auxiliary, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9289 Auxiliary, Eagles Lodge 767 Auxiliary and Joint Township District Memorial Hospital Guild, all in St. Marys.

Her favorite pastimes included fishing, playing cards, watching sports, spending winters in Florida and, most importantly, spoiling her grandchildren.

Rites are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), St. Marys, with the Rev. Bill Maki officiating.

Burial will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before services Saturday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Marys Little League.
