Bernice J. Thomas, 91, of 303 Morton St., Celina, died at 12:17 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at Mercer County Community Hospital, following a sudden illness.
She was born on Aug. 16, 1920, in Lima, the daughter of William and Minnie (Johnson) Hubble, and they preceded her in death.
She married William Thomas on May 6, 1939, and he preceded her in death in March 1974.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth (Susan) Thomas of Philadelphia, Pa.; a daughter, Sue Thomas Campbell of Celina; a half-sister, Lura Doseck of Wapakoneta; a cousin, Helen Beer of Douglas, Mich.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; many good neighbors.
She was preceded in death by two sons, William Thomas and Timothy Thomas; a daughter, Barbara Thomas; two sisters, Mary Seigle and Virginia McCroskey; a grandaughter, Mary Cambell Goubeau; a grandson, Jeffrey Curts.
Bernice was a homemaker and realtor. She attended high school at St. Marys Memorial High School. She was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed studying genealogy and was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Home Church.
Private family burial rites will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys.
