ST. MARYS — The newest addition to the St. Marys restaurant portfolio opened its doors today.

“It’s very exciting,” Beer Barrel owner John Heaphy said inside his newest location in St. Marys. “I have a lot of friends from here who have been coming to Lima for years.”

The St. Marys eatery, located at 1200 Indiana Ave., is the third Beer Barrel to open. Heaphy owns two locations in Lima as well as Happy Daz. Heaphy said his staff has been training in the Lima locations for the past two weeks and is ready to open today. The restaurant also features a take-out menu with a drive-thru for pick ups. Televisions dot the walls, including several large projection TVs behind the bar.

“This location is great,” Heaphy said. “It’s centrally located and we felt when we built this, it would be a good draw here in the center.”

While the eatery opens today, approximately 200 people got a sneak peek at Beer Barrel on Saturday as part of a fundraiser for Agape. The turnout, Heaphy noted, helped cement his decision in opening the restaurant in St. Marys.

“The whole community has been inviting to us,” Heaphy said. “We’ve hired 106 people from Auglaize and Mercer counties.”

The restaurant’s hours are 11 a.m. to midnight during the week and 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. on the weekends. For more information, call 419-229-6211 or visit BeerBarrelPizza.com.
