Arnett's putback lifts Rangers over Anna 59-57

ANNA – It came down to a put back basket by Andrew Arnett with two seconds left to put the New Knoxville Rangers basketball team over the hump Saturday evening and give the Rangers a 59-57 victory over the Anna Rockets in a non-league game played at Anna.

“The kids battled tonight,” Rangers head coach Kort Fledderjohann said. “We knew it was going to be a physical game. Anna is a good Shelby County team and both teams played hard. We knew the game was going to be physical and I told the kids that we have to they were going to have to bang the glass and we did tonight.”

The Rangers did a good job on the offensive boards with eight in the game including the final offensive rebound by Andrew Arnett at the end.

Two players from both teams scored over 20 points in the game. Carter Bensman led all scorers with 23 points for Anna and Joel Albers had 21 points. For the Rangers, Arnett had 22 points and Fullenkamp had 20 points.

In the JV game Anna defeated New Knoxville 50-32.

The Rangers (2-1) will travel to Versailles on Friday for a MAC contest beginning at 6:30 p.m.
