Area women's basketball players wrapping up 2011
Erika Thornsberry, Lipscomb
NASHVILLE — Erika Thornsberry, a Lipscomb freshman and St. Marys Memorial grad, scored eight points and grabbed two rebounds in Lipscomb’s 76-65 win over Gardner-Webb on Sunday afternoon in the Bisons’ final game before the new year. Thornsberry went 3-for-5 from the floor in 14 minutes. Thornsberry averages 4.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Delanie Wolf, Ashland
ASHLAND — Delanie Wolf, an Ashland freshman and Minster grad, snagged a rebound in seven minutes of play for the Eagles on Monday night in Ashland’s 95-52 win over Northwood. Ashland improved to 9-1 and 5-0 in the GLIAC. Ashland is ranked No. 25 in the USA Today-ESPN NCAA Division II coaches’ poll. Wolf averages 3.4 points and 1.6 rebounds per game. She has played in eight games. Ashland hosts Walsh on Friday, Dec. 30 at 5:30 p.m.
LeAnn Topp, Wilmington
LeAnn Topp, a Wilmington junior and New Bremen grad, collected seven rebounds, three assists and two steals in the Quakers’ 76-55 loss to Mount Union on Saturday. Topp averages 4.3 points per game and is third on the team in rebounds with 43 through eight games. Wilmington hosts Kalamazoo tonight at 6 p.m. in its holiday tournament. Wilmington is 6-2 and 2-1 in the OAC. The Quakers entered the D3hoops.com Top 25 last week after it started the season 6-0. The Quakers were ranked 25th.
Stacy Timmerman, Capital
Stacy Timmerman, a Capital junior and New Bremen grad, scored eight points and had five rebounds in Capital’s 84-66 loss to St. Vincent on Monday night.
Timmerman averages 8.2 points and two rebounds per game for the 5-4 Crusaders, who are 1-2 in the OAC.
