The St. Marys baseball program hosted the Galen Cisco Baseball Fundamentals Camp on Sunday at Cook Gymnasium.

About 120 kids participated in the event that was run by St. Marys baseball coaches from all levels. Campers worked on fielding , hitting, baserunning and bunting skills and got personal coaching from former Major League Baseball pitcher and pitching coach Galen Cisco.

Players who signed up for baseball teams early for summer baseball participated and received a t-shirt.

Brian Engel, who helped organize the event, said the camp helped boost numbers in the baseball program.

“We really believe that’s because of Galen Cisco coming and helping us,” Engel said. “We really appreciate him taking the time to do this.”

At the conclusion of the camp, Cisco spoke with the players, telling them, “What you learned here works — take it into summer.  And above all, have fun.”

Russ Bailey, Kevin Quellhorst, Zach Duncan, Russ Bailey, John Westerfield, Doug Duncan, Craig Drummond, Judd Bruns, Cory Hullinger, Mark Huber, Randy Spencer, Rich Kiefer, Brian Engel, Dave Huber, Michael Huber and John Huber and Steven Paulus helped coach the event along with Cisco. The campers presented Cisco with a signed card thanking him.
