Caleb Williams, Mount Vernon Nazarene

Caleb Williams, a Mount Vernon Nazarene sophomore and New Bremen grad, scored 10 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Cougars in a 75-67 loss to Taylor University in Upland, Indiana, on Saturday.

Brad Piehl, Findlay

Brad Piehl, a Findlay junior and New Knoxville grad, started and scored two points for the Oilers in a 98-57 win over Notre Dame of Ohio on Saturday and had 14 points last Thursday in a 78-64 win over Northwood of Michigan.

The 13th-ranked Oilers, coached by Minster grad and former basketball standout Charlie Ernst, are 6-1 on the season. Findlay set a new school record with 30 assists in the game.

Fort Recovery grad Greg Kahlig added 14 points for the Oilers.

Findlay won on Thursday night, as well. The Oilers beat Northwood of Michigan, 78-64. Piehl had 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. He had two rebounds and two blocks.

Kahlig added 11 points.

Findlay travels to Hillsdale on Thursday for an 8 p.m. tip-off in southern Michigan.

Tony Meyer and Scott Schnelle, ONU

Scott Schnelle, a New Bremen grad, had 13 points, a team-high five rebounds, three blocks and two stealsfor Ohio Northern and Tony Meyer, a New Knoxville grad, added two points, two boards, two assists and two steals for the Polar Bears, in a 63-48 OAC-opening win over Muskingum on Saturday.

ONU improved to 4-1 and 1-0 in the OAC with the win.

Schnelle had 12 points and six rebounds and Meyer added three points, four assists and a steal in ONU's 63-60 win over Hanover of Indiana on Nov. 27.

The Polar Bears host Otterbein on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in Ada.

Ryan VanderHorst, Walsh

Ryan VanderHorst, a Walsh sophomore and New Knoxville grad, scored six points, dished out seven assists and had five rebounds for the Cavaliers against OSU-Lima on Friday night.

Walsh is 5-1 on the season after its 87-72 win over Ohio Christian College on Saturday.

Walsh next plays Fischer College on Saturday for a 2 p.m. tip-off in an AMC contest.

Marcus Reineke, Cedarville

Marcus Reineke, a New Knoxville grad and Cedarville freshman, was perfect with every shot he took as he added five points for the Yellow Jackets in their 96-87 win over Central State on Saturday.

Reineke hit a two-point shot, a three-point shot and went 2-for-2 at the free throw line.

Reineke played 10 minutes off the bench on Friday in Cedarville's 74-59 win over Wilberforce.

Cedarville is 5-2 on the season.

The Yellow Jackets travel to play at Salem International on Tuesday night in West Virginia.
