The Grand Lake Mariners had another late-inning comeback to stun the first-place Lima Locos 3-2 in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League action at Veterans Field on Thursday night.

The win pulled the Mariners (12-4) within a half game of the Locos (13-4) in the GLSCL North Division, and snapped Lima’s nine-game winning streak, while the Mariners extended their winning streak to four games after losing four of their last six.

Payton Coddou pitched a complete game for the host team, gaining steam as the game progressed.

Grand Lake’s win was anything but routine, however.

In a season that’s already had more than its share of key late-game at-bats, this one might have been the most bizarre yet.
