Annual Bowling Event Set To Return

March 9, 2012

ST. MARYS — A local organization pairing mentors and children is hosting its annual fundraiser next week.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert Counties is putting on its annual Bowl for Kids’ Sake event next week.

“It is the 16th at 7 p.m.,” Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert Counties Executive Director Abby Balster said. “Bowling begins at 7 p.m.”

She noted this is the group’s third Bowl for Kids’ Sake this month — one was held in Van Wert  and one was held in Celina on March 4.

“We split it by county,” Balster said. “This one supports our Auglaize County programs.”

She noted all the registration for the event is done ahead of time.

“They can register by contacting our office,” Balster said. “They can call once and register their whole team.”

She said each team consists of five to six people, with a minimum donation of $25 per person.

“Once they register, we send out a packet with more information about the event,” Balster said. “They should register by the 15th.”

This is Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert Counties’ 22nd year holding a Bowl for Kids’ Sake event.

“All the proceeds go toward our mentoring programs, to help fund them,” Balster said.

In addition to bowling, Bowl for Kids’ Sake will also include a 50/50 raffle and a car raffle.

“We’ll be selling tickets for our Corvette raffle, too,” Balster said.

Participants will also have a chance to take home prizes.

“The bowlers can get prizes based on how much money they raised,” Balster said, adding there will also be door prizes given away. “We’re noting the registration fee provides one game of bowling for each team, but of course they can play more games on their own.”

To register, participants can contact the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert Counties office in St. Marys at 419-394-2990.
