Alma B. Geiger, 94

Alma B. Geiger, 94, formerly of 702 S. Wayne St., St. Marys, and a resident of Fort Wayne, Ind., for the past 10 years, died at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at the Saint Anne Home in Fort Wayne, Ind.

She was born on May 4, 1919, in Decatur, Ind., the daughter of Richard and Sophia (Hockemeyer) Thieme.

She married Frederick W. Geiger on Sept. 19, 1942, and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1967.

She is survived by her daughter, Jean (Dan) Hoffman of Fort Wayne, Ind.; by three grandchildren, Dr. Theresa Hoffman (partner Diane Allmandinger) of Fort Wayne, Ind.; Tonya (Steve) Erxleben of Portage, Mich.; Angie Geiger of Lexington, Ky. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, Trevor and Kelli Erxleben.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Robert and Don Geiger; by her husband, Fred; and by a brother.

Alma retired from Parker-Hannifin Corporation in St. Marys. She had also worked as the church secretary of the Zion Lutheran Church in St. Marys for many years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and also attended Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Celina. She was a former member of the Women’s Business Society in St. Marys.

Graveside burial rites will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Elm Grove Cemetery in St. Marys, the Rev. Bill Maki, officiant.
