Allen Spring Sr., 89, formerly of rural New Knoxville, died at 11:24 p.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Atrium Medical Center in Middletown.

He was born on July 5, 1923, in Van Wert County, to Leonard and Rena Spring.

On Nov. 2, 1951, in Portland, Ind., he married Lucille Johnson, who survives.

He is also survived by three sons, Phillip Spring  of Waynesville, Gary Spring  of New Knoxville and Daniel Spring  of London; by two daughters, Rena (Tim) Miller  of Waynesville, Mo. and Candice Spring-Kaiser  of Mason; a daughter-in-law; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a sister.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Rena Spring; a son, Allen Spring Jr.; one grandson.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater during World War II.

Services are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, Ohio 703 West Chapel, in St. Marys.

Burial will take place on Wednesday at the Dayton National Cemetery in Dayton.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home on Ohio 703 West.
