Alleged Robber Arrested

October 11, 2012

ST. MARYS — Less than 48 hours after allegedly robbing the Shell Station on Celina Road, a local man faces criminal charges stemming from the incident.

At 11:45 a.m. Thursday, Glenn Tuttle Jr., 42, last known address 1122 Hager St. Apt. 12, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, and theft, a first-degree misdemeanor. Tuttle is believed to be the person who walked into a Shell Station shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday, indicated he had a gun under his clothing and walked out with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"We took him into custody with the assistance of the Auglaize County Sheriff's Office and Wapakoneta Police Department," St. Marys Police Chief Greg Foxhoven told The Evening Leader. "He was arrested at 513 Catherine St. in Wapakoneta."

Tuttle appeared in Auglaize County Municipal Court later in the day and was ordered held on a $250,000 bond. If convicted on the first-degree felony charge as it now stands, Tuttle faces a maximum of 10 years in prison.

The rapid apprehension was something Foxhoven welcomed.

"We had good witness statements and good cooperation from the victim," Foxhoven said. "There was a lot of good police work and a little bit of luck, too."

Investigators attempted to interview Tuttle, but Foxhoven said he invoked his right to an attorney.

"We still have some work ahead of us," Foxhoven said, noting officers recovered evidence from the scene of the crime as well as the Catherine Street address. "We have officers executing search warrants right now."

Initially, it was believed there was a second male in the truck when the alleged robber left the gas station. However, Foxhoven said that information turned out to be incorrect.

"That's where some of the information that we originally got didn't pan out," Foxhoven said. "So at this point, we believe he acted alone."

While the alleged robber indicated he had a weapon, Foxhoven said no evidence that has been found at this point that indicates a gun was used during the robbery. The investigation into the crime continues.
