CELINA —  Jarrett Taylor singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning to give St. Marys a 5-4 win over St. Henry in the first game on Saturday and Celina scored three runs with two outs and edged St. Marys 4-2 in the nightcap, as the St. Marys ACME baseball team split a pair of games  in the round robin tournament at Celina’s Montgomery Field.

St. Marys finished the two-day round robin tournament 2-1.

Isaac Fitzgerald earned the win on the mound for St. Marys in relief.

Celina’s two-out runs proved to be the difference in the second game, which matched up teams that were both 2-0 in the round robin tourney heading into the final game.

Celina scored single runs in the first four innings of the game while starting pitcher Aric Fickert shut down St. Marys’ bats in the complete game win.

St. Marys’ two runs came in the top of the fourth inning on back-to-back RBI at-bats by Taylor and Fitzgerald.

After Mason Gross singled to lead off the fourth, Taylor hit the ball to dead centerfield over the head of the centerfielder for an RBI triple.

Fitzgerald followed with an opposite RBI single served into right field to make it 3-2.

Gross went 2-for-3 for the Riders. Taylor and Fitzgerald were both 1-for-3 with RBIs.
