5 arrested on drug charges

September 30, 2011

CELINA — Four adults and one juvenile were arrested Wednesday as a result of drug investigations in Mercer County.

In a news release issued Friday, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said deputies and members of the Grand Lake Drug Task Force acted on information regarding the sale of heroin at the intersection of U.S. 127 and U.S. 33. Law enforcement officials observed the transaction and once it was completed, the suspect vehicle was stopped. The driver of the vehicle, Tosha N. Reed, 22, 306 E. High St., Mendon, was arrested for trafficking in heroin.

“I want to stress that this is a nationwide problem, not a problem isolated to Mercer and Auglaize counties,” Grey said in the news release. “Sheriff Solomon and I have just chosen to join forces, through the Grand Lake Drug Task Force, to hold those people poisoning our community accountable.”

During the course of that investigation, law enforcement officials obtained information that led them to another drug transaction in the Highland Park area. Agents observed the sale and conducted a stop on the suspect vehicle. Arrested in the vehicle were:

• Frederick L. Ward, 19, 211 Haig Street, Celina, for trafficking in heroin.

• Casey Anne Hatcher, 18, 126 Lakeview Drive, Celina, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

• Jacob Allen Kesters, 18, 235 Jackson Drive, Celina, for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

• A 17-year-old Celina female on possession of marijuana and  possession of drug paraphernalia.

“I have lost my patience with the drug activity that is occurring,” Grey said. “We have seen too many lives lost or destroyed by heroin, I have a message that the traffickers had better take note of, if you traffic drugs, Mercer and Auglaize county is not the place to do it.  Stay out of our counties, no warnings, no tolerance, and no deals, you will go to jail.  If you have a drug addiction, seek help, there are agencies that can help you beat the addiction, but, you need to get the help before we catch you once we catch you, it will be too late.”
