CELINA — Deputies in Mercer County arrested four people for allegedly stealing farm animals.
In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said deputies arrested Ricky L. Crouch, 50, of 8709 E. 600 North, Bryant, Ind., and Chad M. Crouch, 28, 537 Touvelle St., Celina. Both men were charged with break and entering, a fifth-degree felony.
Also arrested were Lisa R. Crouch, 42, of 8709 E. 600 North, Bryant, Ind., and Christina L. Crouch, 29, 737 Touvelle St., Celina. Both were charged with receiving stolen property, a first-degree misdemeanor.
Grey said his office received several reports in the last few weeks indicating the theft of hogs from a farm on the Ohio-Indiana state line. Through the course of the investigation, it was determined Ricky and Chad Crouch allegedly were removing hogs from the barn and transporting them to the residence on 600 North, Bryant, Indiana. Lisa and Christina Crouch were arrested at a local livestock company in possession of the stolen hogs, attempting to sell them. They are being held in the Mercer County Detention Facility.
The incent led to local authorities requesting a search warrant in Jay County, Ind., at 8709 E. 600 North, were more stolen hogs were located. Ricky and Chad Crouch were taken into custody and incarcerated in the Jay County Jail for the Ohio breaking and entering.
