2 Hurt In Collision

July 2, 2014

WAPAKONETA — Two people were transported to the hospital Wednesday morning following a collision near Cridersville.

According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Donna J. Lotz, 84, of Wapakoneta, was traveling north on Mudsock Road in a 2004 Honda Accord when she reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign at National Road. Lotz's vehicle was struck by a 1995 Mack dump truck that was traveling west on National Road. The dump truck was driven by David A. McDaniel, 48, of Elida. The Lotz's vehicle went off the left side of the road, overturned and came to rest in a creek. Lotz was ejected from the vehicle, and it partially came to rest on top of her. The dump truck overturned and dumped a load of gravel on the road.

Both drivers were transported to St. Rita's Medical Center by Cridersville EMS and Shawnee Township EMS. McDaniel was wearing a seat belt. Lotz received citations for no seat belt and stop sign violations.
