12 Arrested In Sweep

CELINA — Twelve people have been arrested following a drug investigation by the Grand Lake Task Force.

In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said the investigation was a combined effort of law enforcement agencies in Mercer and Auglaize counties. Deputies also were assisted by the Celina Police Department.

Those arrested were:

• James C. Prater, 23, 813 Sycamore St., Celina, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies, and one count of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

• Krista Hromish, 23, 813 Sycamore St., Celina, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies.

• Crystal Brock, 22, 301 Zillah St., Celina, on one count of possession of methamphetamines, a fifth-degree felony.

• Douglas Gilliland, 24, on three counts of trafficking in drugs (Hydrocodone Schedule III Controlled Substance), fifth-degree felonies.

• Jennifer Woods, 22, 526 Lisle St., Celina, on one count of trafficking in drugs (Buprenorphine Schedule III Controlled Substance), a fifth-degree felony, two counts of trafficking in drugs (Buprenorphine Schedule III Controlled Substance), fourth-degree felonies.

• Kerry Howell, 24, 834 Hemlock St., Celina, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies.

• Caroline Gilliland, 50, 626 Linden Ave Celina, on two counts of trafficking in drugs (Hydrocodone Schedule III Controlled Substance), fifth-degree felonies.

• Joseph Hammond, 26, 632 Grove St., Apt. 5, Celina, on one count of trafficking in heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking in heroin, fourth-degree felonies.

• Juanita M. Ginter, 36, 632 Grove St., Apt. 5, Celina, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies, and one count of trafficking in heroin, a fourth-degree felony.

• Cindy Maxwell, 31, 8500 State Route 703 Lot 13 Celina, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies.

• Joshua Bensing, 28, 124 S. Lake St., Celina, on one count of trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony, and two counts of trafficking in marijuana, fourth-degree felonies.

• George Darland, 20, one count of offenses involving counterfeit controlled substance, a fifth-degree felony, and one count of offenses involving unapproved drugs, a fifth-degree felony. Darland was arrested in Allen County Indiana, and was transported to Mercer County.

Law enforcement seized a 2004 Ford Explorer during the sting. In addition to the arrests, deputies obtained a search warrant for 813 Sycamore St., Celina, after arresting James Prater and Krista Hromish.  During the search, deputies allegedly seized approximately 22 grams of heroin, various drug paraphernalia, a 22 caliber FIE Tex revolver, 40 rounds of 9 MM ammunition, three digital scales, $62 in cash, and three partial bottles with various pills inside.

Deputies were granted permission from the owners to search 632 Grove Street Apt. 5 Celina after arresting Juanita Ginter and Joseph Hammond.  During this search, deputies allegedly seized approximately 5 grams of heroin, various drug paraphernalia, digital scales, a pill bottle with various pills inside, two glass bongs and several glass pipes.

Deputies also seized 2 grams of heroin that was allegedly on Kerry Howell.

In total, deputies seized 29 grams of heroin estimated street value of $2,900 to $4,000.
