10 Years Ago This Week – 2001

For the first time in nearly a quarter-century, the Minster Wildcats advanced to the Division IV state volleyball tournament at Wright State University and squared off with the Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains.  Although they jumped in front 3-0 in the opening game behind strong serving from Linda Young and Jenni Schmitmeyer, the Chieftains responded in a hurry and dominated the remainder of the game to the tune of 15-4.  The second game wasn’t much prettier, as the Chieftains took an early lead and never let go until they eliminated Minster 15-3.  The loss dropped the Wildcats to 23-6 on the outstanding season.
