WAPAKONETA —The Wapakoneta Redskins held a 16-0 lead before St. Marys scored a point. The struggles continued in the second quarter as the Redskins built a 29-point halftime lead en route to a 61-27 victory.
DELPHOS — A 9-2 run in the final three minutes of the third quarter was what put the Delphos St. John’s Bluejays over the top as they defeated the New Bremen Cardinals Lady basketball team 38-30 Thursday evening in a MAC contest played at Delphos.
“We stayed with them,” Cardinals head coach Randy Eckert said. “We just had a few mental mistakes that cost us a few points. Our shot selection wasn’t the greatest at the end, but we have to shoot more and try to score.”
COLUMBUS — Stacy Timmerman, a Capital junior and New Bremen grad, scored 15 points and had five rebounds and an assist in the Crusaders’ 66-57 loss to Mount Union on Saturday. Capital slipped to 13-6, 8-4 in the OAC. Timmerman averages 9.6 points per game and 5.2 rebounds per game.
NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville head coach Kort Fledderjohann can’t remember seeing his team run its offense any more smoothly this season than it did for large patches of Tuesday night’s game against Marion Local.
The Rangers pulled away from Marion Local in the second half for a 46-28 Midwest Athletic Conference win in a make-up game at The Barn, as New Knoxville scored the first 10 points of the second half and held Marion Local to only eight second-half points.
