NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen softball team ended its season losing to St. Henry 9-2 in the Division IV sectional finals.
In the bottom of the first inning, the Redskins cracked the scoreboard first when lead off batter, Ashley Heitkamp infield singled. Heitkamp then stole second and third and scored when Kinzie Stammen grounded out an RBI to third base.
The Cardinals offense tied the game up when senior, Kristen Miller had an RBI single to send classmate, Taylor Carter home.
FORT RECOVERY — Good defense and clutch pitching from Aaron Clune allowed the New Bremen Cardinals to emerge from Fort Recovery with a 3-1 victory and moved the Cardinals a win on Saturday away from at least a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference title.
The victory allowed the Cardinals to remain tied for the MAC lead with a 6-2 record. Overall they are 12-8. Fort Recovery drops to 7-15 and 1-8 in the MAC.
Clune pitched the complete game victory for New Bremen giving up one unearned run on four hits. He struck out three and walked one.
BATH TOWNSHIP — Celina’s powerful offense, paired with a strong performance in the pitching circle by Kaitlynn Kerr, muscled Celina past their Western Buckeye League rivals and into the sectional title game.
MINSTER — Four runs in the first inning by the Fort Recovery Indians was all they needed as they defeated the New Knoxville baseball team 4-1 in the opening game of the Division IV sectional tournament held at Hanover Street Park in Minster.
