MINSTER — The last five minutes of the game were profitable Friday night for the New Knoxville Rangers as they outscored the Minster Wildcats 24-14 to pull away with a 61-51 victory in the final regular season game for both teams.
They’ll see each other again in just five days when they play a Division IV sectional semifinal match-up on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at Coldwater High School.
ST. MARYS — St. Marys’ five seniors made sure their final home game was a winner and that the Roughriders are heading into the tournament on their first winning streak of the season.

St. Marys had four swimmers compete in two events at the OHSAA state swimming
championships on Thursday night at C.T. Branin Natatorium. While the quartet said they were disappointed that they didn’t qualify for Friday’s championship finals or consolation races, the four Roughriders with shaved heads were proud of what they accomplished this winter in the pool.
CANTON — St. Marys sophomore Madison Taylor made the most of her opportunity at the state diving championships, making it past both of the cuts and finishing 15th in the Division II girls competition at Canton McKinley’s venerable C.T. Branin Natatorium on Wednesday morning.
“I just feel honored to make it through all the cuts with it being my first year, it’s just awesome,” said Taylor, draped in a towel on the deck of the pool after the completion of the more than three-hour competition.

DELPHOS — With a four-point lead with just 16 seconds left in regulation the New Bremen boys basketball team had at least a share of the Midwest Athletic Conference title in its grasp. Delphos St. John’s Curtis Geise’s heroics and later a technical foul at an inopportune time let it slip away.
BOWLING GREEN — St. Marys junior Jared Deubler had a pair of top eight finishes — including a second-place finish — as an individual to highlight the St. Marys swim team’s day in the pool at the Division II district meet at Bowling Green State University on Friday.

COLDWATER — The New Knoxville girls basketball team didn’t wait its turn to get a share of a Midwest Athletic Conference title.
