NEW BREMEN 64, FORT RECOVERY 55
COLDWATER — The New Bremen Cardinals survived a rough second quarter and made their free throws down the stretch to advance in the Division IV sectional tournament with a 64-55 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians at Coldwater. The Cardinals (13-8) will advance to the sectional championship on Friday at 8:00 against the Ada Bulldogs. Carson Manger led the Cardinals with 21 points and nine rebounds and Nolan Fox had 14 points.

St. Marys' Shania Taylor finished with 13 points and 12 rebounds but left with an injury. Carly Buzzard had 12 points for Wapakoenta.

FORT RECOVERY 53, NEW KNOXVILLE 40

The loss drops New Knoxville from atop the MAC standings with one game to go. Three players for Fort Recovery scored in double figures. Siefring led the Indians with 14 points and Jocelyn Kaiser and Grace Thien each scored 11 points. Meg Reineke led New Knoxville with 12 points and Kenzie Schroer had 10 points.

Minster's Nann Stechschulte wins 500th game

MINSTER — Minster girls basketball coach Nann Stechschulte  the 500-win milestone  on Thursday night in Minster’s 54-42 victory over Coldwater.

Stechschulte improved her coaching mark to 500-239. She is 416-186 in 26 seasons at Minster. She went 84-53 with a state appearance at Oak Hills High School before taking the job at Minster.

Stechschulte is just one of 19 girls basketball coaches in Ohio to reach the 500-win plateau.

Sophomore forward Madison Stolly scored 27 points and Lima Central Catholic scored 26 points in the third quarter. Sydney Cisco led the Roughriders (9-11) with nine points. Shania Taylor scored eight points. Lindi Cisco and Quincy Rable each had seven points.

New Knoxville’s Jalen Fullenkamp carried the Rangers to their first Midwest Athletic Conference win of the season, scoring 32 points in the Rangers’ 58-51 win.

DEFIANCE 40, ST. MARYS 30

Defiance scored the first 15 points of the second half to quickly erase a 16-9 halftime deficit. Shay Smiddy paced Defiance with 16 points. St. Marys' Derek Jay and Isaac Fitzgerald each had nine points.

The Wildcats, who have a perfect 7-0 record at home, moved to .500 on the road and at neutral sites with a 5-5 mark. Logan Arnold paced Minster with 11 points on 4-of-4 shooting from the floor.  The Wildcats improve to 12-5 and 6-2 in the MAC.

State Champion Minster Sending Two to Div. I Programs

Minster seniors Eli Wolf and Hayden Schindler signed with Division I football programs on Wednesday.

Wolf is headed to Tennessee, where he'll join his older brother Ethan on the Volunteer program. Wolf, who played wide receiver in high school, said he could make the transition to tight end in Knoxville under Butch Jones.

Schindler is going to North Carolina State, an Atlantic Coast Conference program. He'll play interior offensive line.

Both helped Minster win the Division VI state championship this fall.
