NEW BREMEN 64, FORT RECOVERY 55
COLDWATER — The New Bremen Cardinals survived a rough second quarter and made their free throws down the stretch to advance in the Division IV sectional tournament with a 64-55 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians at Coldwater. The Cardinals (13-8) will advance to the sectional championship on Friday at 8:00 against the Ada Bulldogs. Carson Manger led the Cardinals with 21 points and nine rebounds and Nolan Fox had 14 points.
TROY — The Minster girls cross country team captured the Division III regional championship at Troy on Saturday afternoon and will be back at the state tournament in search of its 10th state title in school history.
The Wildcats scored 65 points to edge out second-place Russia, which had 69 points.
Minster’s seven runners all finished in the top 37.
Minster senior Hannah Butler led the way with an eighth-place finish and a 19:59 time.
The OHSAA released the playoff football pairings for Week 11 on Sunday afternoon.
The Minster Wildcats, who finished the season 8-2 with an overtime win over Delphos St. John's on Friday night, earned the second seed in Region 24 and will open the postseason with a home game against Lewisburg Tri-County North on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Memorial Field.
The winner of the Minster-Tri-County North game will face the winner of the Marion Local-Bradford game next Friday, Nov. 9 at a place to be determined.
MINSTER — In a battle of playoff teams the Minster Wildcats took advantage of five Delphos St. John’s turnovers and defeated the Blue Jays 21-14 in overtime Friday night at Minster in the final regular season game.
“You can’t fumble in games like this,” Delphos head coach Todd Schulte said. “If we don’t turn the ball over, we don’t make the game as tough.”
KALIDA — Ottawa-Glandorf earned a fifth set win to defeat New Bremen, 17-25, 27-25, 25-21, 20-25 and 15-11 in the Division III district semifinals held at Kalida High School on Wednesday.
The Titans (20-5) will go on and face the Coldwater Cavaliers (18-7) , who upset the Liberty-Benton Eagles in four games, 19-25, 25-16, 26-24 and 25-18. The Titans and Cavaliers will play Saturday in the district finals at 6 p.m. at Kalida High School.
