DELPHOS — An almost half-court shot by Delphos St. John’s guard Curtis Geise provided a boost of momentum to the Blue Jays heading into the fourth quarter. They went on to defeat the New Knoxville Rangers 50-43 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest at the Vatican on Friday night.
Delphos turned up the defense in the fourth quarter limiting New Knoxville to only four points, while the Jays scored 10 points for the seven-point victory.
WAPAKONETA — The Bath Wildcats used a balanced offensive attack and took advantage of a lackluster showing by the Redskins to pull away to a 61-47 win in a Western Buckeye League varsity boys basketball game at Wapakoneta High School.
“It seems like we’ve got to be down 10 points in the fourth quarter to start really playing hard defensively,” Wapak varsity coach Matt Bradley said. “It’s got to be that way all the time.”
ST. MARYS — Elida’s young team turned the St. Marys girls basketball team’s turnovers into runouts and lay-ups while the Roughriders’ couldn’t reciprocate on the other end.
NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Rangers basketball team survived a comeback by the Delphos St. John’s Blue Jays, and a pair of three-pointers from Haley Horstman midway through the fourth quarter gave the Rangers a cushion in a 52-35 victory in a MAC contest at New Knoxville.
