The St. Marys at Greenville girls basketball game scheduled for Tuesday night has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 30 at 6 p.m. That game will include a junior varsity contest tentatively.
ST. MARYS — St. Marys head coach Dan Hegemier threw out his hands and wondered when his team would catch a break.
“I’ve been doing this a long time, but I’ve never seen a team with such bad karma,” Hegemier said.
The Roughriders stormed back from a double-digit deficit but couldn’t quite come all the way back in Saturday night’s 50-46 loss to the Spencerville Bearcats.
CELINA — No one would’ve blinked if the shot went down in this rollercoaster of a basketball game.
Minster and Celina’s low-scoring, back-and-forth affair looked like it might be in for another drastic turn when Hillary Heiby got what appeared to be a wide-open look at a potential go-ahead three-pointer in the game’s final 25 seconds.
ELIDA — The St. Marys boys basketball team was charged with the task of stopping a rested and ready Elida Bulldogs eight days after they suffered their first loss of the season against Toledo Central Catholic and experienced the first roadbump in its expected charmed run through the WBL and the regular season.
NEW BREMEN — Minster got the better of its rival New Bremen 46-43 in a Midwest Athletic Conference back-and-forth showdown on Friday night by scoring eight of the game’s final 10 points to rally.
DELPHOS — An almost half-court shot by Delphos St. John’s guard Curtis Geise provided a boost of momentum to the Blue Jays heading into the fourth quarter. They went on to defeat the New Knoxville Rangers 50-43 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest at the Vatican on Friday night.
Delphos turned up the defense in the fourth quarter limiting New Knoxville to only four points, while the Jays scored 10 points for the seven-point victory.
