COLDWATER — The New Bremen Cardinals survived a rough second quarter and made their free throws down the stretch to advance in the Division IV sectional tournament with a 64-55 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians at Coldwater. The Cardinals (13-8) will advance to the sectional championship on Friday at 8:00 against the Ada Bulldogs. Carson Manger led the Cardinals with 21 points and nine rebounds and Nolan Fox had 14 points.

MOUNT BLANCHARD —  Josh Young scored 24 points — including a key 3-pointer to tie the game late in regulation and the Roughriders outscored Shawnee 11-2 in overtime to earn their first sectional title since 2005. St. Marys will face Wapakoneta next Wednesday at Liberty-Benton at 8 p.m.

Riders to play Shawnee

St. Marys learned it will play Shawnee on Friday at Riverdale after the Indians beat Kenton 59-54 on Wednesday.

BATH TOWNSHIP — The Rangers outscored the Rams 37-26 in the second half to spring the upset victory. Jalen Fullenkamp scored a game-high 26 points, including a 14-of-14 night at the free throw line. The Rangers went 21-of-22 from the free throw line as a team. Adam Howe added 16 points for the Rangers. The Rangers face  Lima Perry at 8 p.m. on Friday  at Bath.

St. Marys' Cook headed to state bowling

ROSSFORD — St. Marys sophomore  Austin Cook rolled a 675 series and qualified for the Division II boys state bowling tournament on Friday at Interstate Lanes in Rossford.

Cook will bowl at next Saturday’s state championship meet at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl after bowling games of 258, 170 and 247 for a 675 total that was the fourth-best individual score at the district tournament and  the third-best for a bowler who is not on a team advancing to state.
