NEW BREMEN 64, FORT RECOVERY 55
COLDWATER — The New Bremen Cardinals survived a rough second quarter and made their free throws down the stretch to advance in the Division IV sectional tournament with a 64-55 victory over the Fort Recovery Indians at Coldwater. The Cardinals (13-8) will advance to the sectional championship on Friday at 8:00 against the Ada Bulldogs. Carson Manger led the Cardinals with 21 points and nine rebounds and Nolan Fox had 14 points.

Manger leads East to win in all-star game

ELIDA — New Bremen senior Carson Manger scored a game-high 16 points to help lead the East to a 105-79 win over the West in the Division IV District 8 all-star game at the Elida Fieldhouse on Tuesday night.

Manger, a Lake Superior State signee, was on the East roster along with New Knoxville's Andrew Arnett, who scored 10 points, and Minster's Matthew Trushaw, who had two points.

Minster wins Versailles Lady Tiger Classique

VERSAILLES — The Minster girls track team coasted to a season-opening win in the black division at the Versailles Lady Tiger Classique on Saturday in Versailles. The Wildcats scored 270 points to claim the black division title. Versailles was next closest with 112 points.

Fledderjohann stepping down as New Knoxville's boys basketball coach

Kort Fledderjohann will step down from his position as the boys head basketball coach at New Knoxville, according to the school's board of education agenda for tonight’s meeting.

Fledderjohann coached the Rangers for six seasons, taking over for Dan Hegemier following the 2008-2009 season.

Fledderjohann compiled a 71-64 record — including a Midwest Athletic Conference championship in 2010-2011.

The Rangers went 9-14 this past season and bowed out in the sectional title game to Lima Perry 62-56.

FINDLAY — The Bulldogs held St. Marys to 32 percent shooting from the floor and ran away with a 48-29 victory over the Roughriders on Saturday night in a Division II district title game at Liberty-Benton.
Ryan Hoyng, the Western Buckeye League player of the year, scored a game-high 16 points. Grant Laffin added 10 points for the Bulldogs. Celina and Defiance square off at the Stroh Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University at  8 p.m. on Thursday.
