MINSTER – The Minster Wildcats took advantage of four unearned runs and Brandon Hoying kept the New Bremen bats at bay in a 5-0 six-inning win called after six innings because of lightning on Tuesday.
Minster put pressure on the New Bremen defense with small ball.
“I thought we bunted well tonight,” Minster head coach Mike Wiss aid. “Bunting was something we have been working on and we played good defense. We have made goof strides the last couple weeks and I’m glad with that. ”
ST. MARYS — The St. Marys baseball team has its own full-service restaurant going.
“They’re settting the table and clearing off the table right now,” St. Marys head coach Jeff Dieringer said after his team surged to 12-1 on the season on Monday.
Lead-off hitter Tristan Becker went 4 for 4 with three runs scored and two runs batted in while clean-up man Isaac Fitzgerald went 3 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs on Monday night in a 9-2 Western Buckeye League victory over Elida at K.C. Geiger Park.
MINSTER — The Minster softball team stayed on a roll. Monday evening the Wildcats got six runs in the first three innings and shutout the Coldwater Cavaliers 8-0 in a MAC contest at Four Seasons Park in Minster.
“They hit the ball pretty well tonight,” Minster head coach Scott Robinson said. “It took a couple of innings to figure her out but once they did they started smacking the ball around.”
ST. MARYS — Four different St. Marys hitters drove two runs, the offense put up a 10-spot in the fourth inning and a pair of Roughrider pitchers combined on a one-hit shutout as Memorial made quick work of the Lima Senior Spartans 15-0 in five innings on Friday at K.C. Geiger Park.
St. Marys (9-1) received yet another strong start from its pitching staff that has led the way to a five-game winning streak. St. Marys hasn’t given up a run in their last 12 innings of play.
VERSAILLES — The St. Marys baseball team got a pair of complete games on the mound and never trailed during a road doubleheader sweep of Versailles on Saturday. Brandon Coffey and Tristan Becker both went the distance in 4-1 and 6-2 victories.
St. Marys improved to 7-1 with the wins and will host Shawnee in a Western Buckeye League contest on Tuesday at 5 p.m.
MINSTER — One run was enough in a game matching up the two best pitchers in the Midwest Athletic Conference.
Minster’s Marissa Conrad ripped an RBI single over the third base bag off Parkway’s Sierra Fent in the bottom of the third inning for what proved to be the game-winning — and lone — run batted in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win over Parkway on Wednesday night at Four Season’s Park.
CELINA — Celina swept its six-team invitational on Saturday, with the St. Marys girls track team finishing third and the Roughrider boys coming in fourth.
The Roughrider girls scored 98.5 points, behind first-place Celina (155) and Ottawa-Glandorf (116). Celina was led by junior Bekah Carr, who won four events. Carr won the girls 100 hurdles (16.17) the 300 hurdles (48.15) the pole vault (10-0), and the long jump (16-2.75) on Saturday.
