NEW BREMEN 55, MINSTER 52, OT
NEW BREMEN — The annual rivalry game between New Bremen and Minster didn’t disappoint on Friday. The 155th meeting had to go to overtime and it took a basket by Brent Goettemoeller and a free throw by Carson Manger to give the New Bremen Cardinals a 55-52 victory.
The New Bremen Athletic Boosters will be holding their 2nd Annual Reds Event featuring Cincinnati Reds Hall of Famer and the only Reds player to pitch a perfect game, Tom Browning on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the New Bremen American Legion.
Joining Tom will be representatives from the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame and their traveling display of Cincinnati Reds memorabilia with emphasis on the 1990 Championship Team.
ST. MARYS — Doug Frye will try to rebuild the St. Marys football program — the one he carefully tended for 11 seasons and the one he watched fall into disrepair in the five seasons since he left and coached at rival Wapakoneta.
Frye was officially named head coach of the Roughriders at a St. Marys Board of Education meeting on Wednesday night.
WAPAKONETA — On one great shooting night the New Knoxville Rangers put up more points than they did all last weekend.
New Knoxville scored 20 points in each of the first two quarters in a hot-shooting first half, held off a Wapakoneta rally early in the fourth quarter and then hit its free throws down the stretch for a 77-65 win over the Redskins on Tuesday night.
