ST. MARYS — Celina quickly took any drama out of a rivalry game by scoring the game’s first 28 points in the Bulldogs’ 48-17 win over St. Marys.
“That might be one of our best starts ever,” Celina head coach Brian Stetler said. “You never know on the road how you’re going to come out against an arch-rival. Our girls stepped it up in the beginning and pretty much set the tone early. It doesn’t always happen that way, but it did tonight.”
ST. MARYS — An NBA All-Star Weekend 3-point shooting contest it was not, but the Bath boys basketball team left St. Marys Memorial High School still tied for the Western Buckeye League lead.
The 19-point win was anything but routine, though. Bizarre is a more fitting description.
The Wildcats sewed up a 56-37 win over the Roughriders early in the second half with another showcase of energy on defense and on the offensive glass that makes Bath a league title contender this winter.

The Rangers’ first Midwest Athletic Conference win of the season came with a big night from beyond the 3-point arc. The Rangers hit 11 three-pointers and went 11-of-22 from long distance — including 7-of-11 in the second half.
NEW KNOXVILLE — Whenever the breaks go your way you have to take advantage of them and Thursday night the New Knoxville Rangers girls basketball team did just that in the second overtime. A key steal allowed defending MAC player of the year Haley Horstman to go in and get fouled and sink two free throws to break things the Rangers way in a 56-49 victory over the Marion Local Flyers in a MAC contest played at the Barn in New Knoxville.

This week in 1963, the New Bremen Cardinals nearly hit the century mark in an easy defeat over Cridersville.
Powered by 21 points from Fark and Froning, the Cardinals pounced on Cridersville early and never let up in a 92-37 victory. Fledderjohn and Busse also scored in double-digits for New Bremen with 15 and 11 points respectively in a battle that started with New Bremen in command only 15-11 at the end of the first period.
