ST. MARYS — City officials are awaiting a proposal from a solar energy firm on the feasibility of adding a facility in St. Marys.
NEW BREMEN — After approximately 60 years at its location in New Knoxville, Brookside Laboratories will be relocating to New Bremen.
The approximately $2.4 million investment will cover six acres in New Bremen’s Bunker Hill Industrial Park. The facility will be approximately 38,000 square feet. President and CEO Mark Flock said the reason for the relocation was space.
St. Marys fall sports meeting Aug. 4
The St. Marys City Schools will be holding a mandatory Fall Sports Parents Meeting for student athletes in grades 9-12 on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 8 pm. At least one parent and fall student athlete are required to attend. The meeting will be held in the Performing Arts Center of Memorial High School. Items of discussion will include eligibility, the athletic code of conduct, athletic training issues, and items specific to your respective fall sport.
CELINA — Before Minster could play its game against Toledo Central Catholic on Sunday, it had to play the waiting game.
All six hours of it.
The Wildcats made the long wait worth the hassle by jumping out to an early lead in an 8-3 win over Toledo Central Catholic on Sunday night in the second round of the state ACME tournament.
Minster arrived at Montgomery Field at 3:30 p.m., only to watch six separate rain delays extend the preceding game between Defiance and Vandalia Butler into a seven-hour affair.
Sandra “Sandy” Hurt, 65, of Coldwater, died at 9:11 a.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at Mercer Health.
She was born on Nov. 5, 1945, in Celina, to Harry P. and Beradine (Rockwood) Cline, and they preceded her in death.
On Dec. 28, 1955, she married James Hurt, and he survives her.
She is also survived by a son, Jason G. (Bianca) Hurt of Indianapolis, Ind; one sister-in-law; one brother; two sisters; three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Hurt; one brother; two sisters; one grandchild.
Karen Sue Piper, 64, of 512 Cron St., Celina, died at 2:55 p.m. Saturday, July 23, 2011, at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
She was born on Feb. 24, 1947, in Celina, to Robert and Marceta E. (Detrick) McCullough, and they preceded her in death.
On June 26, 1966, she married Ronald (Butch) Piper of Celina, and he survives her.
She is also survived by her sons, Scott (Joni) Piper and Steve (Lisa) Piper, both of Celina; a daughter, Stephanie (Ross) Zimmer of Celina; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson.
John David Hilty, 93, formerly of Spencerville, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at his residence in Columbus.
He was born on April 5, 1918, in Amanda Township, to Homer John and Alvina (Basinger) Hilty, and they preceded him in death.
He was married to Doris June Burnfield for 62 years, and she preceded him in death in 2008.
He is survived by two children, Dorothy Alice Hilty May (Jim) of Columbus and David Dee Hilty (Cheryl) of Plymouth, Ind; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; two great-great-granchildren.
Irma Taylor, 89, of St. Marys, died on Saturday, July 23, 2011, at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys.

Maxine E. Head, 92, of Celina, died at 3:57 p.m. Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
Dr. Duane N. Sunderman, 83, of Hilliard, passed away suddenly on Friday, July 22, 2011.
He was born on July 14, 1928, in Wadsworth, to Richard B. and Caroline N. Sunderman, and they preceded him in death.
He was married to Joan H. Sunderman for 58 years, and she survives him.
