David F. Hegemier, 84, of 18590 State Route 29, New Knoxville, died on Monday, July 4, 2011, at his residence.
He was on born June 22, 1927, in Auglaize County, the son of August and Esther (Roediger) Hegemier, and they preceded him in death.
On Nov. 1, 1947, he married Virginia “Ginny” Glass, and she survives him at the residence.
Debra Jean Hensley, 56, of 511 S. Beech St., St. Marys, was found dead on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1955, in St. Marys, the daughter of Virgil “Jack” and M. Jean (Chilcoat) Keysor, and her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives in St. Marys.
She married James Hensley in 1972 and he preceded her in death.
Leon E. Gerling, 85, of 525 W. Bremen St., New Knoxville, passed away at 9:47 a.m. Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
He was born on Nov. 5, 1925, in Minster, the son of Frank and Jennie (Bolheimer) Gerling, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 2, 1972, he married Rosemary W. (Landwehr) Burris, and she survives in New Knoxville.
CELINA — A local park manager says he plans to push for a second alum dose next year for Grand Lake St. Marys.
NEW KNOXVILLE — The community of New Knoxville celebrated the holiday weekend with the 2011 Independence Day Celebration — a time for food, fellowship and fun.
CELINA — A Celina man died Sunday night after he crashed his motorcycle.
In a news release, Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey said his office is investigating the county's first traffic fatality of 2011. Dispatchers received a call of a possible motorcycle crash at 11:56 p.m. Sunday. The caller advised dispatchers they heard a motorcycle go past their house, then heard tires squealing and a crash.
Sharon Wells-Dicke, 65, of 5336 Lake Drive, in Celina, died on Friday, July 1, 2011, at her residence. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home,1605 Celina Road (Ohio 703 West Chapel), in St. Marys. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. John Wayne McGough, 67, of 208 Portland St., Celina, died at 9 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1944, in Celina, to Wallace and Genevieve (Stiner) McGough, and they preceded him in death.
On Jan. 27, 1973, he married Sharon Hanna, and she survives him in Celina.
He is also survived by his children, Tambra and Josh Kimmel of Celina, David and Nikki Hole of Celina, Tracy Hole and Nikki Riley of Celina; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers; three sisters.
ST. MARYS — As boaters flock to Grand Lake St. Marys to enjoy the holiday weekend, a local watercraft officer says he hopes they follow several simple safety rules that could save a life.
"We are expecting this to be among the busiest boating weekends of the year," said Brett Trump, area supervisor for the Division of Watercraft. "We are encouraging boaters to follow basic safety tips — obey boating rules of the road, stay alert and sober and properly wear a life jacket."
ST. MARYS — Customers can find a little bit of everything at St. Marys’ newest thrift store, Penny Pinchers, which celebrated its grand opening Friday morning.
Owner Michelle Murphy said shopping at the thrift store is like going on a treasure hunt.
“It’s a treasure find,” Murphy said. “Every time you walk into a thrift store, it’s a treasure find. God knows what you’re walking out with.”
Murphy said she opened the store because of the current economy.
